Vendor Biography

My stitch markers are snag-free, color-coordinated, and inspired by the best (and worst) or Pop Culture!  Each stitch marker is crafted using hand-coiled copper or aluminum wire. Embellishments include Japanese or Czech seed beads and cast metal or enameled charms from my bodacious bevy of bits and bobs. My “factory” is an old table in my yarn stash room, where I twist and clip and glue while listening to movies of dubious quality. Each creation is a limited edition with names inspired by the best (and worst) or pop culture, misheard song lyrics, and bad puns. In other words, weirdness from the dark recesses of the mind that has earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in Scene Design, of all things. I started Yank Your Yarn in September 2018 after moving to southern Kentucky, after twenty years of living in Arizona.  I had lost nearly all of my stitch markers that I had collected over the years when a single box got lost in the move.  I also lost half of my refrigerator magnets and the knitted Flying Spaghetti Monster.  Sad!   Instead of buying replacement stitch markers, I decided I should just make my own, which then snowballed into my own shop.  “Yank Your Yarn” was the name of my fictional yarn shop – named because it was alliterative, silly, and somehow slightly risqué. Then, as it turned out, here in the “mid-South”, there is a great bevy of fiber festivals!  Slowly and methodically, I added more and more to my booth, until my little Toyota Matrix was maxed out in space!  I now travel to shows in Tennessee, Kentucky, and Indiana, with perhaps trips to Michigan and North Carolina in 2020!  Perhaps we shall meet each other “on the road” soon.
