Vendor Biography

Rare Fields Fiber is the new wool and fiber branch of Open Door Farm in Oklahoma.  As a long time member of the Livestock Conservancy, my passion is to help preserve rare, endangered breeds of livestock and poultry.  That includes participating in the fun Shave ’em to Save ’em program through the Conservancy!  Just let me know if you need stamps with a purchase. My first flock of sheep were ACRA Cotswold sheep, and I completely fell in love!  They were sweet and gentle… and started a whole new learning process about wool and fiber.  Alpacas were added to the mix for several years, but were eventually sold to hone my focus on wool. As a long time knitter, this has been an incredible journey.  Eventually I hope to learn spinning and weaving, among so many other needle crafts.
